Sustainable Partnership

Next year October the International Wholistic Missions Conference will be held in Durres, Albania. This is very special, because up till now this was always in the United States. This conference is a great opportunity for CHE workers from around the world to meet each other and to learn from each other. So now workers from Europe, Africa and the Near East, who otherwise would not have the money to buy a ticket to the US, finally also have the chance to attend such a conference.

Next to that, this conference offers an opportunity to present CHE to local churches and organizations and potential partners for the mission work. We purposefully speak of partners, and not of sponsors or donors, because we want to emphasize that the work of mission is a joint responsibility of the entire body of Christ, worldwide. Every church and every believer who wants to follow Jesus Christ, is involved in that in one way or another: either by going or by praying or by giving.

In order to prepare our CHE teams in Central Europe for this conference and for the possibilities this conference offers for developing partnerships with churches overseas, we have been doing DSP training in several countries in the last couple of weeks: Developing Sustainable Partnerships training. Here the teams learn how they can present their mission statement in a short and appealing way; how they can describe within one minute what it is that their mission organization does; how they can within maximum two pages write a case for support, in which the invite a potential partner to become actively involved in their mission work.

In all the lessons we emphasize that we are not fishing for money, but that we are developing relationships: partnerships in mission. Because eventually, all the money belongs to God, regardless of which pocket it is in or what bank account it is on. Therefore a fundamental principal of this training is prayer: trusting that God will provide the necessary resources; and believing that He will establish the relationship with the right partner.

So we have almost a year to go until the conference next year to build relationships with churches in the West to invite them to this conference in October. And the great thing is that following the conference there will be opportunity to visit the different fields of the CHE teams and their projects, so visitors can see CHE in action. We pray that this conference will be an important tool to put CHE on the map even better and to expand the network of partners. Would you pray along? CHE exists to bring the Kingdom of God among the poor and the marginalized, to break the cycle of poverty by wholistic community transformation and discipleship to Jesus Christ.
